2011 Managers

Marlon NicholsMarlon Nichols
Chief Operating Officer

Marlon started his management career in the software industry where he successfully led the deployment of many global enterprise software and business process improvement initiatives for Fortune 100 enterprises. During his time as a technologist, Marlon played a key role in the European expansion of a Cambridge based software company. Upon returning to the United States, Marlon worked as a principal strategist and senior manager for a strategy consulting firm focusing on new business development. While working fulltime as consultant Marlon pursued what started out as a passion project and has evolved into an education focused nonprofit company called Rise to College. Under Marlon’s leadership Rise to College continues to grow while positively impacting the lives of over 200 hundred inner city high school students each year. Today Marlon studies Entrepreneurship and Private Equity at the Johnson School where he is a Roy H. Park Leadership Fellow. In addition to serving as Chief Operating Officer of the Johnson School’s $1.2M Venture Capital Fund, he is also the VP of Corporate Relations for the Black Graduate Business Association. Marlon will be spending the summer with Intel as an Accelerated Leadership Program Intern.

Kelly DwyerKelly Dwyer
Human Capital Officer

Kelly is passionate about human potential and entrepreneurship. Before coming to the Johnson School, Kelly launched Do U Yoga, an outdoor yoga adventures business that merged her ongoing study of yoga, fondness for the outdoors, and her desire to help people live healthier lives. Kelly’s prior experience was in business development, operations, and training for startup and high growth businesses, including businesses that went public, were acquired, and one that completely failed. At the Johnson School, Kelly is developing a career path that uses entrepreneurship and innovation to deliver large-scale positive social and environmental impact, and she serves as the founding president of Big Red Living, a club dedicated to the value and experience of living a vital and balanced life. As BR Venture Fund’s Human Capital Officer, Kelly focuses on talent recruitment and management, professional development for associates and managers, and sourcing compelling deal opportunities.

Brent GoldbergBrent Goldberg
Chief Financial Officer and Special Events

Before matriculating into the Johnson School, Brent worked in the field of medical device development engineering consulting with his last four years in southern California solving problems for venture or angel backed companies. During much of that experience, he was an internal ‘rover’ and primary emergency resource who executed various design, engineering, quality, and management roles for thirty disparate medical device projects, as well as for internal operations and growth. Over the past decade, Brent has also advised on half a dozen startups in the energy, and social media spaces. Currently, Brent is studying Management Finance with a consulting focus at the Johnson School. Along with his role as the CFO and Special Events Officer for the BR Venture Fund, he has multiple leadership roles including the Co-President of the Healthcare and Biotechnology Club as well as VP of networking for the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Club.

Anand SundaramAnand Sundaram
External Relations Officer

Anand is responsible for managing BRV’s VC Partnerships and Alumni Relations. Prior to coming to the Johnson School, Anand worked for 8 years in various product development and leadership roles within the semiconductor industry designing inkjet printers and more recently, broad-band communication devices for the telecommunications industry. Anand is focused on deal sourcing in the electronics and high tech space. In addition to his responsibilities at BRV, Anand is also Vice President of Corporate Relations for the High Tech Club and helped organize and lead the annual Seattle Trek for the club in January 2010. Anand holds a Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Sung-Hoon AhnSung-Hoon Ahn
Deal Sourcing Officer

Prior to the Johnson School, Sung-Hoon worked as a process researcher and new business planner at Samsung Fine Chemicals for 9 years. He played various roles at Samsung, from conducting research to commercializing products focused on electronic materials for display, semiconductor, battery, and solar cells. He came to the Johnson Graduate School of Management to further his interest in renewable energy and venture capital industry utilizing his understanding of technology and new business. At the Johnson School, he is a deal sourcing officer of Big Red Ventures, a student-run venture capital fund, a president of Korean Business Association, and a member of High Tech Club, Sustainable Global Enterprise Club and Energy Club. After MBA, Sung-Hoon is pursuing his career in venture capital focused on cleantech or high tech area.

Weston CashmanWeston Cashman
Fundraising Officer

Wes is responsible for Strategic Development and Fundraising for BR Ventures. Prior to attending the Johnson School, he spent four years working in merger, acquisition and divestiture services for Deloitte Consulting. His client’s included market leaders in automotive, process manufacturing, healthcare, consumer products, and financial services executing several industry-shaping deals in each space. In addition to his role with BR Ventures, Wes is also a member of several other student organizations including Entrepreneurship and Private Equity, Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital, Healthcare and Biotech, and the Soccer Club. Wes holds a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Cum Laude) from Kettering University, formerly GMI, where he published a thesis on metal forming simulation technologies while working for Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

Henry’s role within BR Venture fund is to promote the funds activities and achievements both internally and externally, along with assisting any of BRV’s portfolio companies with their marketing needs. Graduating with a degree in Rural Science from his home country of Australia, Henry has since lived in a number of different countries across the globe working for both new ventures and fortune 500 companies. With the goal of starting his own company post graduation Henry has focused his studies on Entrepreneurship and Private Equity.
